Apple Tree Pruning Workshop

  • Joe Dembeck's Personal Orchard 1865 River Road Clinton, ME, 04927 United States (map)

Cost: $10 per person

Registration Deadline: February 25

Workshop Description

Late winter is the ideal time for pruning fruit trees, and Somerset County Soil & Water Conservation District is offering a hands-on orchard pruning workshop at a working farm in Clinton.

The workshop will be led by orchardist Joe Dembeck and will cover pruning techniques that improve tree health, structure, and fruit production. After a short overview, participants will practice pruning on a variety of fruit trees.

Trees we will be working with include planted apples, cherries, pears, peaches, plums, and larger wild apple trees. This workshop is well suited for homeowners, small orchardists, and anyone looking to build practical pruning skills they can use at home.

What to Bring / Important Notes

Dress warmly and plan to be outdoors. Participants are encouraged to bring hand pruners, loppers, or saws if they have them. Some tools will be available to share. No dogs, please, due to nearby duck and chicken housing.
