Mapping Workshop for Woodland Owners

  • Somerset County Extension Office 7 County Dr. Skowhegan, ME 04976 (map)

THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL TO CAPACITY. CONTACT US TO BE ADDED TO THE WAITING LIST, OR TO CANCEL YOUR REGISTRATION IF YOUR PLANS HAVE CHANGED.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to map your woodland? Maybe you want to create a map to help you plan a timber harvest, manage for wildlife or recreation, determine acreage or simply because it’s fun! Then this workshop is for you!

We will spend the evening exploring many free and low-cost mapping applications that are available to everyone. Through real world examples and demonstrations, you will learn the steps and options available to collect field data and prepare maps for your woodland. We will look at internet-based applications, as well as mobile apps for iOS and Android devices.

Your instructors will be Adam Cates and Patty Cormier, both District Foresters for the Maine Forest Service. This workshop is co-sponsored by Upper Kennebec Chapter - Maine Woodland Owners and Somerset County Soil & Water Conservation District.

To sign up, email Jennifer or phone/text 207-679-7306.
